A plain-language explanation of what browser storage WhistlerFjord uses and how to control it.

01. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small data files placed in your browser by websites. They allow a site to remember choices you have made on a previous visit. WhistlerFjord does not use server-set cookies; instead, it uses your browser’s localStorage API, which works similarly but stores data entirely in your own browser without transmitting it to any server.
02. What We Store and Why
WhistlerFjord stores exactly two values in your browser’s localStorage:
- wf_age_ok — set to “1” when you confirm you are 18 or older at the age-gate. Without this, you would be asked to confirm your age every time you visit.
- wf_ck_ok or wf_ck_no — records whether you accepted or declined the cookie notice. Without this, the banner would appear on every page load.
These values are never transmitted to our servers and are never shared with third parties.
03. Optional Analytics
If you accept our cookie notice, we may activate anonymised, aggregated page-view counting via a privacy-respecting analytics tool. This collects: approximate country of visit, page viewed, browser type (category, not fingerprint), and time of visit. No personal data is included. If you decline, no analytics are activated.
04. Third-Party Resources
WhistlerFjord loads fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com) and icon files from jsDelivr CDN. These third-party resources may set their own caching cookies or logs. We do not control their privacy practices; please review their respective privacy policies for details.
05. How to Clear or Block Storage
You can clear WhistlerFjord’s localStorage entries at any time:
- Chrome/Edge: Developer Tools → Application → Local Storage → select stainedpath.com → delete entries.
- Firefox: Developer Tools → Storage → Local Storage.
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
You can also use your browser’s private/incognito mode, which automatically clears localStorage when the window closes.
06. Changes to These Cookie Terms
We may update these terms to reflect changes in our practices. The updated date will appear at the top of this page. We will display a new cookie notice if we introduce any new types of storage.
